Discussion: The report of CNBC has identified that how the computing industry is facing the issue with protection of the intellectual property rights. The case shows that Samsung has infringed Apples intellectual right over the iPhone design. According to the US legal framework the lower courts has directed Samsung to pay the total profit of the copied smart phones of Samsung (Stock Markets, 2017). However, the Supreme Court has directed to review the order of the lower court which has posed a threat to the rights of Apple. This particular case arises a few ethical dilemmas like the debate over private greed vs. public good, profit vs. affordability and the ownership rights vs. right to communicate (Broad, 2014). With the following ethical theories these dilemmas can be analysed. The utilitarianism: As mentioned by Melden (2013), the utilitarian theory of ethics proposed by Jeremy Bentham is the belief that an action can be identified as good if its final effect is to produce more happiness than unhappiness. The utilitarianism largely concentrates on the consequences of a certain act. Hence, in the case of the infringement of the intellectual rights of Apple by Samsung can be declared as a right one as it is capable of creating more good than bad. As mentioned by Khayatzadeh-Mahani, Fotaki and Harvey (2013), the coping of the useful features of machineries by the less costly companies is creating public good by liberating the useful technology from the shackles of private greed of the inventors. Hence, the decision made by the Supreme Court can be identified as for greater good. Hence, it is needed to make necessary changes within the legal framework of the US. The deontological theory: On the other hand, the ethical theory of Deontology proposed by Immanuel Kant can be identified as a belief that an action needs to be guided by the moral laws those are universal. As mentioned by Loreggia, Rossi and Venable (2017), the deontological theory of ethics concentrates on the moral aspects of a certain action not on its consequences. The deontological theory will always oppose an action that contravenes the universal moral guidelines no matter of its consequences. Hence, under the light of deontological theory the act of infringing the intellectual property right of Apple is ethically wrong. Copying the inventions without prior notice or consent of the inventor is theft which is universally wrong (Spike Lunstroth2016). Hence, whatever the consequence Samsung may create by copying the model of iPhone, it needs to be identified as theft and ethically wrong. It focuses on the virtue or the moral characters of a person rather than the consequence or the ethical obligations. Pyramids Of Egypt In my report, I will discuss how the pyramids were built, what purpose they served, the three pyramids at Giza, some messages found on the stones that were used to build pyramids, and what a mastabas is. Pyramids are tombs built for Egypt's pharaohs. Pyramids are large structures with four sides that are the shape of a triangle, that meet at the top to form a point. The ancient Egyptians used the pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and temples for their gods. The pyramids have one or two little temples attached to them, which holds their relatives and servants. A few pyramids still stand today, and are great attractions for tourists. The pyramids were built by taking blocks of granite to the workshop, measuring the blocks down to size, shaping the blocks, and placing the blocks into the body of the pyramid. The core of the structure is now completed. Then, you place the limestone blocks on the top of the structure (they started putting the blocks on top and then worked their way down). They left two empty rooms to place the pharaoh and his belongings in. They sealed the pyramids so well, it took four hundred years for two robbers to figure out how to get in. The pyramids were built by free citizens, drafted for public work, not by slaves of any sort. The pyramids were built by four thousand expert stone sculptors all year round. An extra work group of about ninety-five thousand men worked on the pyramids during the four month period of the inundation (the time of enforced idleness for farmers, since the field were covered with the Nile water flood ). Many scholars believe that the reason why the pyramids were built in a triangular form is because it has a religious meaning to the Egyptians. The slanting side might have reminded the Egyptians of the slanting rays of the sun, that the pharaoh's soul could climb to the sky and join the gods. In the pyramids they buried the pharaoh's body. There was a chamber for the body. There was also a chamber for treasures of gold and other priceless items for the pharaoh's afterlife. Sometimes a boat is placed inside so the pharaoh would have a way to transport himself into his afterlife. In Pharaoh Cheopses pyramid, therewas his mummy, caskets full of jewels, furniture inlaid with ivory and gold, silver and alabaster bowls and vessels, chests filled with clothing and precious ornaments, and jars filled full of food and wine. You must think that the pyramids must have been large to hold all of that, and as a matter of fact the base of the pyramid covers enough area to hold ten football fields. The three pyramids at Giza stand on the west bank of the Nile River,outside of Cairo. They are the largest and best preserved pyramids. The largest of the three was for Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops). The next to largest was for Pharaoh Khafre. The smallest (yet not small at all) was for Pharaoh Menkaure. The first known pharaoh to have a pyramid was Pharaoh Zoser,in the year 2650 B.C. Imhotep built it for him. If you ever see something that looks like a pyramid, except it's smaller than one, and has a flat top, don't mistake it for a pyramid, it's a mastabas. In the mastabas the king's relatives and servants are buried. Some blocks had marks on them to show where they belonged. Others had messages like " this side up ", " vigorous gang", or even " how drunk the king is ". In conclusion, the pyramids were built by free, drafted, citizens. Hathorne repeatedly calls for witnesses to be questioned or held in contempt, only to be ignored by Danforth. This shows the audience that Hathornes opinions mean nothing, but it also shows us the power Danforth wields, not only over the population of Salem, but also over his own partners. There are many moments in the play when Hathorne and Parris get ignored or disrespected by Danforth, but early on in act three Hathorne asks Giles Corey Are you gone daft, Corey? Corey replies Youre not a Boston judge yet. Youll not call me daft! This shows the difference in standing between the two men, as Danforth would never stand for being scolded in such a way. The quadratic function can be written in the general form of, where a, b, and c are real numbers. However, the quadratic function can also be written in the standard form of , which is sometimes more preferred, where p and q are the x and y coordinates of the vertex, respectively.The purpose of this task is to investigate the graph of a quadratic equation, the parabola, when the equation is written in the form. By analyzing p and q we can determine the vertex of the graph. Also, by increasing or decreasing the values of p or q, we can translate the parabola vertically and/or horizontally. First, if we look at the functions y=x2 ,y=x2+3, y=x2-2 we know that all 3 are in general form. To convert general to standard form you will need to use the process called â€Å"completing the square† which goes as following: Ex. y=ax+bx+cNow if we convert the three functions mentioned above, in standard form respectively they are y=x020, y=x02+3 and y=x02-2.
